Watercolour students have been painting boats and reflections this term. We learned about the correct brushes to use for water, the importance in matching our reflections with what they are reflecting above and how to get the shape of boats right.
Some of these paintings are still works in progress - we were slowed down by the heatwave. But painting water while it was hot outside helped to cool us down a bit!
Fantastic paintings everyone! π€
Acrylic painting of puffin Iβve just finished this morning. This could just be the most Ladybird artists inspired painting Iβve ever painted! If youβve ever seen one, youβll know they are much smaller than you might think. They are declining massively in the UK. This one is scanning the Welsh coast for fish.
He was fun to paint π¨ π¦
(There should be a puffin emoji!)
I have a workshop coming up in August where you can learn to paint your very own puffin. More details to follow very soon!

My sketches from yesterday at GWR Winchcombe. I loved the busy platform, the curve of the open train door and the way the windows on the carriage created little vignettes of the passengers. I love how drawing makes you notice things you donβt when you just point your phone at them βπ» β€οΈ π
A little outing for the art class yesterday, sketching at @steamgwsr GWSR Winchcombe. A busy place to sit and sketch, the students embraced the challenge of drawing in public and trying to sketch people who could move at any minute! A lovely afternoon in an endlessly fascinating setting, fuelled by cake and tea from the cafe. Thanks for having us π β€οΈ
